Nomenclatural note
Yoshida (1997: 288) refers to Corallopsis dichotoma Ruprecht, 1851. However, Ruprecht merely refers to a specimen he saw: "Das Original befindet sich im Herb, von Chamisso. The original is in Herb, by Chamisso. The places where its sea plants were found have not been carefully nourished. Chamisso himself doubted that he brought his S. papillatus from Owahu and Corallopsis dichotoma from Unalaschka, as I now see. I consider Ross in California, from where I saw quite similar, newer specimens, to be the fatherland of the former kind; Corallopsis is more likely to come from tropical regions.], and did not publish such a name. - (15 November 2021) - M.D. Guiry
