This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Galaxaura obtusata (J.Ellis & Solander) J.V.Lamouroux.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), spread out, indeterminate, straggling; literally ‘poured out’ (Stearn 1983).
