This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Hildenbrandia rubra (Sommerfelt) Meneghini.

Nomenclatural note
Illegitimate: unwarranted change of epithet for H. prototypus Nardo (see Silva et al. 1996: 218). As the epithet was coined to honour Giovanni Domenico (Giandomenico) Nardo (1802-1877), modern naming conventions dictate "nardoi" (G. Furnari pers. comm.). - (08 June 2009) - G.M. Guiry
