Type Information
Type locality: "sur les Fucus de l’Australasie" [on Fucus from Australasia]; (Lamouroux 1816: 271, pl. 9, fig. 5a, b) Lectotype: CN; Herb. Lamouroux [left specimen shown in fig. 4 A in Harvey, Woelkerling & Reviers 2020] (Harvey, Woelkerling & Reviers 2020: 233) Notes: "Lamouroux (1816, p. 271, pl. 9, fig. 5a, b) based J. micrarthrodia on material 'sur les Fucus de l'Australasie' [on Fucus L. from Australasia] without mention of a more explicit locality, and without listing a collector, designating a type or indicating how many specimens he had. However, on the lectotype herbarium sheet (Fig. 4A), Lamouroux wrote 'Lieu nouv. Hollande' [Locality New Holland = Australia], and, subsequently, Lamouroux (1821, p. 25) and Lamouroux et al. (1827, p. 468) listed the original locality as 'Australie' [Australia]. A somewhat abbreviated English translation of the protologue appears in Anonymous (1824, p. 122, pl. 9, fig. 5a, b). Without supporting evidence, Millar and Kraft (1993, p. 14) listed the type locality as Port Philip Bay, Victoria, Australia, whereas Goldberg and Kendrick (2005, p. 42) listed the type locality as the mouth of the Swan River, Western Australia." (Harvey, Woelkerling & Reviers 2020: 233).
