The type species (lectotype) of the genus Lithophyllum is Lithophyllum incrustans Philippi.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Titanoderma mutabile (Me.Lemoine) Woelkerling, Y.M.Chamberlain & P.C.Silva.
