Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Erythrymenia is Erythrymenia obovata F.Schmitz ex Mazza.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Perbella minuta (Kylin) Filloramo & G.W.Saunders.

Type locality: Port Phillip Heads, Victoria, Australia; (Silva & al. 1996: 359) Lectotype: Wilson; 31 January 1890; Herb, Agardh; LD, 26337 (Womersley 1996: 68) Notes: Womersley (1996: 68) notes that Kylin’s photo of the lectotype includes also one specimen from LD, 26338.

Adjective (Latin), very small; minute (Stearn 1983).

This is a marine species.
Habitat
On rough-water coasts at and just below low tide level, extending to 15 m deep (Womersley 1996: 68).
