Type locality: King George Sound, Western Australia; (Silva & al. 1996: 485) Lectotype: Harvey; LD, Herb. Agardh; 37802 (Harvey, Alg. Aust. Exsicc. 157B) (Womersley 2003: 446) Notes: This type locality was first recorded by Gordon-Mills & Womersley (1987: 534). Isotyes LD, 37800, 37801, 37804, AD, A18280 and in other herbaria (Womersley, 2003: 446).

Adjective (Latin), fleshy.

General Environment
This is a marine species.

Habitat
Appears to be largely confined to sheltered inlets where there is strong current flow (Womersley 2003: 446).
