This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pectinodesmus pectinatus f. tortuosus (Skuja) E.Hegewald.

Origin of Species Name
Participle A (Latin), acuminate, i.e. tapering gradually or abruptly from inwardly curved sides into a narrow point (Stearn 1983).
