Taxonomic notes
Cormaci, Furnari & Alongi (2014: 222) comment "Taking into consideration that from the molecular analysis it resulted that some specimens collected at different localities of Indo-Pacific region and identified as C. racemosa var. lamourouxii belonged to C. lamourouxii, while some others to C. oligophylla Montagne (Belton et al., 2014), it isn't possible, in absence of molecular data, to give a certain identification to Mediterranean specimens attributed to that variety." Fucus lamourouxii Turner was described from the Red Sea. Caulerpa oligophylla Montagne was described from Australia (Torres Strait: Toud Island [Warrior Islet]). - (10 July 2015) - M.D. Guiry
According to Silva et al. (1996) the name Caulerpa fergusonii has been misapplied to this species by various authors. Please see original reference for full details. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
