This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Grunowago bacillaris (Grunow) Lobban & Ashworth.

Type locality: Honduras; (Grunow 1877: 167) Notes: Lobban & al. (2022: fig. 19 A-G) illustrate "putative" material "from Grunow’s Honduras material".
