Taxonomic note
Wynne (2002) included this entity in the synonymy of T. turbinatata, although in his 1998 "Checklist of benthic marine algae of the tropical and subtropical western Atlantic: first revision" he commented in a note:%u201CThis species was not included in Taylor%u2019s (1960) flora, but it was listed by Silva et al. (1996). With syntype localities of Brazil and the West Indies, it seems prudent to incldue it until its status can be resolved.%u201D
