Distributional note
"This species was first cited with no comment from the Mediterranean Sea (North of Island of Cyprus) in an "updated" catalogue of both freshwater and marine algae of Turkey by Cirik et al. (2000: 35). Ta%u015Fk%u0131n et al. (2019: 558, in Turkish) had previously quoted it from the Marmara Sea with the following comment: "Türkiye ve Akdeniz'deki varl%u0131%u011F%u0131 do%u011Frulanmal%u0131d%u0131r." [= its presence in Turkey and in the Mediterranean Sea should be verified]. Therefore, in absence of an adequate documentation, the species is here considered as a taxon excludendum from the Mediterranean Sea." (cormaci & al. 2023: 389-90). - (24 November 2023) - M.D. Guiry
