The type species (holotype) of the genus Microcladia is Microcladia glandulosa (Solander ex Turner) Greville.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ceramothamnion coulteri (Harvey) M.J.Wynne & C.W.Schneider.
