Type locality: "Mühlengerinne" [millrace, Germany]; (Kützing 1845: 197) "Epitype": strain SAG 284-1 (cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen) (epitype) (Mikhailyuk et al. 2015: 763) Notes: "Epitype (designated here): Strain SAG 384-1 (proposed here as the authentic strain of K. subtile) is permanently preserved in a metabolically inactive state (cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen) in the SAG." Mikhailyuk & al. (2015: 763) do no specify what is being epitypified (holotype, lectotype or neotype?).
