Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Katodinium is Katodinium nieuportense (Conrad) Fott.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Aduncodinium glandula (E.C.Herdman) N.S.Kang, H.J.Jeong & Moestrup.
