Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Phacus is Phacus longicauda (Ehrenberg) Dujardin.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Phacus pusillus Lemmermann.

Type locality: Germany: Brandenburg; (Index Nominum Algarum) Lectotype: fig. 223 in Lemmermann in Pascher's Süssw., Fl.,2, 1913: Epiype: fig. 1, q and R (cells in resin, for E, from strain UTEX 1282), Univ. Warsaw (epitype) (Karnkowska-Ishikawa et al. 2010: 178) Notes: Lukomska-Kowalczyk et al. (2020: 1148) note the epitypification statement published in Karnkowska-Ishikawa et al. 2010 (p. 178) does not include the phrase "designated here". They designated the epitype (Karnkowska-Ishikawa et al. 2010, fig. 1r) in their 2020 publication.
