This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Xerochlorella minuta (J.B.Petersen) Mikhailyuk & P.M.Tsarenko.

Type locality: Hammer Bakker, Denmark [soil, copper copse]; (Petersen 1932: 37) Notes: Lectotype (designated by Mikhailyuk & al. 2020: 684): fig. 19 in Petersen 1932. Epitype (designated by Mikhailyuk & al. 2020: 684): culture material of the strain UTEX B 2993 preserved as specimen CONN00178617 (Fuc?kova et al. 2014) that is supported by the lectotype
