The type species (holotype) of the genus Enteromorpha is Enteromorpha intestinalis (Linnaeus) Nees.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ulva ralfsii (Harvey) Le Jolis.

Lectotype locality: Bangor, North Wales; (Silva & al. 1996: 739) Lectotype: Harvey (1851: pl. CCLXXXII) (epitype) J. Ralfs; (Hayden & al. 2003: 290) Notes: According to Womersley (1984: 154) the type is from Bangor, N. Wales. Bliding (1963: 45) reports that there were no types in TCD; Hayden et al. (2003) found no types in BM and selected as lectotype the illustration mentioned above.
