The type species (lectotype) of the genus Kallymenia is Kallymenia reniformis (Turner) J.Agardh.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pugetia latiloba (W.R.Taylor) R.E.Norris.

Type locality: Gardner Bay, I. Española, Galápagos Islands, Ecuador; (Taylor 1945: 216, 217) Holotype: cystocarpic: W.R. Taylor no. 34-417; 31 January 1934; frequent as dredged in 37-55 m at sta. 203 from a rocky bottom near an islet in Gardner Bay; Hancock Foundation; (Taylor 1945: 216,217) Notes: Holotype: UC 1884384 (AHFH108); Isotype: MICH 1306499 (Clarkston & Saunders 2012: 47).
