The type species (lectotype) of the genus Liagora is Liagora viscida (Forsskål) C.Agardh.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Neoizziella divaricata (C.K.Tseng) Showe M.Lin, S.-Y.Yang & Huisman.

Type locality: Tsinglan-Lang (Qinglan-Gang), Hainan, China; (Silva & al. 1996: 125) Holotype: C.K. Tseng 777; 7 Apr. 1934; QD; (Huisman 2006: 62) Notes: Abbott & Huisman (2003: 602) give the following data: Holotype locality and specimen: China, Hainan Province, Tsinglan-Kang (Qinglan-Gang); presumably in AST [Herbarium of Academia Sinica, Tsingtao (Qingdao). Hainan Island , southern China (Lin et al. 2011).
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), divaricate, spreading at a wide angle (Stearn 1983).

This is a marine species.
Habitat
Epilithic or epiphytic in the intertidal and shallow subtidal (Huisman 2006: 65).
