Holotype locality: Cynthia Bay, St Clair Lake, Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, Tasmania; (Kociolek & al. 2004: 432, 428) Holotype: Fig. 35 (epitype) J.P. Bradbury; February 1985; Elevation 735 m, large deep glacial lake, composite collection; CAS; Slide 221051 (Kociolek & al. 2004: 432, 428) Notes: CAS Accession 621809 (California Academy of Sciences).

General Environment
This is a freshwater species.

Description
Valves lanceolate-clavate, with narrow apices and tumid centre, valve shape highly variable. Length 36-80 µm. Breadth 6.5 - 12.0 µm. Rape slightly undulate, laterial, external proximal ends not dilated, internal proximal ends distinctly recurved. Axial area narrow, straight; central area containing a single stigma. Apical pore field at footpole prominent. Striae 10-12 in 10 µm.
