Taxonomic note
De Clerck (2003) notes that originally, Dawson considered D. binghamiae as a Pachydictyon species because of the presence of a di- to tristromatic cortex. Later, however, the species was retained in Dictyota. Nizamuddin & Campbell (1995) relegated the species to the newly described genus Glossophorella. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
