Type Information
Type locality: Antilles, West Indies; (Silva & al. 1996: 586) Lectotype: CN; C7F99 (De Clerck 2003: 163) Notes: De Clerck & Coppejans (1997b: 414-415) showed after verification of the type specimen that D. bartayresiana contains no surface proliferations or involucrate sporangia thus agreeing with Kützing (1859: 8, pl. 16, fig.1) and Taylor (1960: 219, pl. 30, fig.2) and contrary to Vickers (1908: 38, pl. 12-13)and Jaasund (1970: 72, fig. 1D, 2C). The species incorrectly called D. bartayresiana by Vickers has been shown by De Clerck & Coppejans to be referable to D. crispata Lamouroux. De Clerck, in Skelton & South (2004: 295), suggests that the type locality is Haiti.
