The type species (holotype) of the genus Parahistioneis is Parahistioneis diomedeae (Kofoid & J.R.Michener) Kofoid & Skogsberg.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Histioneis pieltainii (Osorio-Tafall) Okolodkov.
