Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Gracilaria is Gracilaria compressa (C.Agardh) Greville.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Gracilaria cearensis (A.B.Joly & Pinheiro) A.B.Joly & Pinheiro.
