Neotype locality: Julianehaab, Greenland; (Adey et al. 2005: 1011) Neotype: Ryberg (as "L. soriferum Rosenvinge"); no date indicated; no habitat data on type; TRH; C12-3179 (Woelkerling & al. 2005: 435, 440) Notes: Neotype designated by Adey (1970: 228). Adey et al. (2005: 1012) note that the staff at Senckenberg, Frankfurt (Germany) could not locate Esper's collection in their herbarium. TRH C12-3177, as Lithothamnion tophiforme. Sukkertoppen, Greenland, no date, leg. Petersen. DNA sequence: rbcL-263 (bp 1172-1434), GenBank MW536893 (Peña et al., 2021: 10).
