Nomenclatural note
Ardré (1967b: 37) attributed the comination Pterosiphonia spinifera to Falkenberg (1901: 268), but Silva et al. (1996: 550) point out that Falkenberg placed this species, as Polysiphonia spinifera in the synonymy of Pterosiphonia dendroidea. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
