Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Lithophyllum is Lithophyllum incrustans Philippi.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Titanoderma pustulatum (J.V.Lamouroux) Nägeli.

Crouan" unnumbered, General Herbarium (non-fossil; filed in non-geniculate coralline type collections cabinet affixed to a herbarium sheet), may be a fragment of the lectotype in CO.
