Type locality: "Prope Elbingrode in Hercynia legit amicus aestumatissimis Celeb. Person" [Elbingrode, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany]; (Roth 1797: 234) Notes: C.P. Person? "Hercynia" is the Harz region of present-day Germany.

Adjective (Latin), somewhat cylindrical, with contractions or swellings at intervals along the length.
