Nomenclatural note
"The occurrence of this species in the Mediterranean Sea is based on a specimen, collected in 1853 at Marseille (France), of Hauck & Richter Herbarium, held in the Herbarium Naturalis, The Netherlands, Leiden. Such a specimen, (L 9101821211), labelled as Spyridia filamentosa, was examined by Zuccarello et al. (2004: 488, tab. 3) who referred it to as S. griffithsiana."
