Taxonomic note
The name Laminaria longipes was misapplied to a north Pacific kelp (Klimova & al. 2023), the type of which unfortunately has been shown to represent Saccharina latissima and may have been collected in the Atlantic, and the north Pacific kelp passing under the name Laminaria longipes is best referred to Laminaria repens Ruprecht (q.v.). - (17 November 2023) - M.D. Guiry
