Adjective (Latin), south, southern (Stearn 1973).

General Environment
This is a marine species.

Habitat
A common species in areas of moderate to slight wave action, though patchy in its occurrence; in southern Australia occurs during the summer but on subtropical W. Australian coasts recorded during winter (Womersley 1994: 91).
