Distributional note
This species is considered to have been introduced into the Mediterranean (Verlaque et al. 2015: 133), probably by shipping, being first found at Villefrsnche-sur-mer in 1926; it is now widespread on the Mediterranean coast of France. "This subcosmopolitan species was introduced into the Mediterranean Sea by fouling (Cormaci et al., 2004: 157; Verlaque et al., 2015: 132). In the Mediterranean Sea it was recorded by Verlaque & Tiné (1981: 17) from Toulon (France) as Anthitamnionella sarniensis %u201Csarniense%u201D Lyle, a species traditionally considered as its synonym."
