Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Acrochaetium is Acrochaetium secundatum (Lyngbye) Nägeli.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Colaconema scinaiae (E.Y.Dawson) J.N.Norris.

Type locality: Santa Barbara Island, California, U.S.A.; Holotype: May 27, 1939; Epiphytic on Scinaia articulata dredged froma white sand bottom at a depth of 30-40 m on the north of the island; AHF; 26803, incl. vial 826 (Dawson 1953: 27)
