Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Acrochaetium is Acrochaetium secundatum (Lyngbye) Nägeli.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Acrochaetium vagum (K.M.Drew) C.-C.Jao.

Type locality: 1 mile inside Bahía San Quintín from the end of the peninsula; Holotype: E.Y. Dawson; April 14, 1951; In the test of a partially decomposed ascidian of the genus Styela cast up in drift.; AHF; Dawson 9642 (vial 2293, slides 1686 and 1687) (Dawson 1953: 21)
