Nomenclatural note
Illegitmate: unwarranted change of epithet of Conferva corallinoides Linnaeus (1753: 1166); Conferva corallinoides name is not included in Murray's treatment but it is in the same sequence as in Species plantarum (Linnaeus 1753: 1166). [INA]. Lightfoot (1777: 988-989) cites Murray's (1774: 818) Conferva corallina, which is an illegitimate name (q.v.), and includes Linnaeus's (1753: 1166) Conferva corallinoides, so this name is not to be attributed to Lightfoot (Maggs & Hommersand 1983: 185). - (26 October 2010) - M.D. Guiry
