Taxonomic note
Wynne (1989: 423) remarks: “Another South America species which bears some resemblance to P[hycodrys]. ovifolia is Cladodonta lyallii (Hook. f. & Harv.) Skottsb. A well developed midrib and paired lateral veins characterize both genera, but the main difference is that blades are monostromatic in Phycodrys and polystromatic in Cladodonta (Kylin 1924). A distinctive fringe of marginal teeth, often of a compound nature, characterizes Cladodonta lyallii (Mendoza 1969a).” - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
