The type species (holotype) of the genus Ralfsia is Ralfsia deusta (C.Agardh) Berkeley.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ralfsia pacifica Hollenberg.

Taylor no. 34-31; 2 Jan. 1934; common on rocks; Hancock Foundation; (Taylor 1945: 81, 82) Notes: No. 34-31 (plurangial, TYPE), no. 34-42(sporangial), collected 2 January 1934. Ibid., dredged from 37 metres’ depth at sta. 132 near Braithwaite Bay, no. 34-42A (sporangial), 2 January 1934.
