Description
Plants 4-5 cm, attached by unicellular rhizoids arising at irregular intervals, as outgrowths from centre of lower pericentral cells, cut off by cross wall; branches alternate, profuse, dense, with distinct or indistinct main axes, 100-170 µm in diameter, shorter than broad ujpwards; ultimate branchlets abundant, short, obtuse, spur-like in several orders, exogenous or rarely cicatrigenous; pericentral cells four, with several cortical filaments extending longitudinally along junctures of pericentral cells in main axes; trichoblasts numerous, delicate, arising at regular intervals, formed once or twice, up to 100-150 µm long, deciduous, often leaving conspicuous scar-cells; branches not associated with trichoblasts in origin; tetrasporangia up to 70 µm in diameter, spirally arranged in 1.4 divergence, somewhat bulging at tip; cystocarps ovoid-globose, sessile, 300-400 µm in diameter; spermatangial branches arising from one fork of trichoblast, 100-170 µm x 35-40 µm with one to two short cells in sterile tip
