The type species (holotype) of the genus Anacystis is Anacystis marginata Meneghini.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Sorospora montana (Lightfoot) Hassall.
Source of Synonymy
Wynne, M.J. & Guiry, M.D. (2018). Lightfootiella Hašler et al. (2018) is a homotypic synonym of Sorospora Hassall (1845) (Chroococcaceae, Cyanophyceae). Notulae Algarum 68: 1-2.

Type Information
Syntype localities: "It grows upon the ground aminst the grass and moss on the sides of the montains in the isle of Skye and in Ross-shire on the side of a mountain called Cail-veg, between Loch-broom and Lead-beg, on the western coasts, and doubtless many other such-like places. VIII"; (Lightfoot 1777: 973) Lectotype: BM; Lightfoot Herbarium (Dixon 1983: 13) Notes: Ross-shire is a historic county in the Scottish Highlands. The county borders Sutherland, Cromartyshire (of which it contains many exclaves), Inverness-shire and an exclave of Nairnshire. It includes most of Ross as well as Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. The lectotype locality is the Isle of Skye. The lectotype is a specimen in BM (K) labelled "Mountain Dulse. Skye, Ulva montana. Fl. Cal."
