Type locality: Daya Bay (22°39'16" N, 114°39'29"E), the South China Sea, China; (Li et al. 2015: 471) Holotype: marine, planktonic; Laboratory of Phycology, School of Life Science, South China Normal Univ.; MD2 (fixed sample of strain MC107-L) (Li et al. 2015: 471) Notes: Two sub-items were included to represent different cell types, i.e., MD2-V (vegetative cells), MD2-R (resting spores). Isotypes: slide of strain MC107-L deposited at the Laboratory of Phycology, School of Life Science, South China Normal Univ.
