This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Hendeyella dubia (Grunow) Li, Witkowski & Ashworth.

Type locality: Adriatic Sea; (INA 1996) Notes: Examined slide: Grunow no. 501; sample colleted in Porto piccolo on 1 January 1858 by Dr. Lorenz but see note on type locality (Li et al., 2016: 1026).
