Type Information
Type locality: Coquimbo, Chile; (González et al. 2012: 1161) Holotype: PC; 0062753 (Asensi & de Reviers 2009: 210, 233) Notes: Collected by Bertero & Gaudichaud (INA; González et al. 2012: 1161) [but by Montagne on p. 1162 - error?]). According to Asensi & de Reviers (2009: 210), Bertero is probably the collector and would have handed the specimen to Gaudichaud-Beaupré.
Eponomy
Named for Carlo Guiseppe Bertero, 1789-1831, an Italian physician and botanist who practiced in Chile and who drowned at sea while returning there after a visit to Tahiti.
