Type locality: Port Philip, Victoria; (Womersley 1994: 316) Lectotype: Wilson; LD, Herb. Agardh; 29871? Notes: Womersley (1994: 316) gives the following data: Type from Port Phillip, Victoria (Wilson); lectotype (to be selected) in Herb. Agardh, LD. A type label is affixed to LD 29871 (Fig. 49 in Kylin 1932) but this is from Puebla Bay (near Torquay), west of Port Phillip.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), margined (Stearn 1983).

General Environment
This is a marine species.

Habitat
Apparently a deep water (or in shaded pools) alga on rough-water coasts (Womersley 1994: 317).
