The type species (lectotype) of the genus Brachytrichia is Brachytrichia quoyi Bornet & Flahault.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Kyrtuthrix maculans (Gomont) I.Umezaki.

Type locality: Laem Dan, Ko Chang Archipelago, Thailand; (Silva & al. 1996: 78)
