Type Species
This is the type species (lectotype) of the genus Chnoospora.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Chnoospora minima (Hering) Papenfuss.

Type Information
Type locality: San Agustín, Oaxaca, Mexico; (Silva & al. 1996: 626) Notes: According to Dawson (1944: 234) the type was collected by Liebmann at St. Augustine, near Acapulco, Mexico.

Adjective A (Latin), pertaining to the Pacific Ocean.
