The type species (holotype) of the genus Prasiola is Prasiola crispa (Lightfoot) Kützing.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Prasiola stipitata Suhr ex Jessen.

Adjective (Latin), resembling the Horn of Plenty.
