Type locality: South Trinidad [Trindade Island, Espírito Santo, Brazil]; (Woelkerling 1998: 328) Holotype: collector not indicated; July 1910; BM; algal box collection 354 (Woelkerling 1998: 328) Notes: Holotype fragments: PC, unnumbered, General Herbarium box collection (non-fossil; filed in non-geniculate coralline type collections cabinet under basionym). Trindade Island (formerly known in English as South Trinidad Island), is a Brazilian territory and belongs to the state of Espírito Santo (Erick Lopes Filho, pers. comm.).
