This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Nemalionopsis shawii Skuja.

Type locality: Japan: Iyo Prov., Onsen-gun, Kawakami-mura [To-on City, Ehime Prefecture]; (Yagi & Yoneda 1940: 86) Lectotype (fide Kumano, Seto & Yoshida, 2008: 312): on stones in a shallow stream running in a shady place; KYO; 00020215 (INA 1996)
