Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Pleurosigma is Pleurosigma angulatum (J.T.Quekett) W.Smith.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pleurosigma angulatum var. quadratum (W.Smith) Van Heurck.
